When we say "60+ years of combined family heritage," we mean it. SCWS was founded in 2020 by Brighton Scala and Travis Sego, but our roots in well drilling run much deeper.
Brighton learned the trade working alongside Joe Fain, founder of Fain Drilling—a company with over 60 years of history serving Southern California. Travis started at age 14 with his uncle at Sam Crum Well Drilling, gaining hands-on experience across every type of terrain and well system in the region.
In 2024, we were honored to acquire two trusted names in San Diego's well service industry: Heritage Well Service and Ransom Pump (Ransom Brothers). These acquisitions weren't just business transactions—they were a commitment to continue the legacy of quality service these companies built over decades.

Brighton got his start in the well industry through Joe Fain — founder of Fain Drilling with over 60 years of history in Southern California — after Joe married Brighton's grandmother. That hands-on mentorship shaped everything about how we run this company: show up on time, be honest about what's wrong, and never cut corners on quality. As a Valley Center resident, Brighton takes pride in serving his neighbors throughout San Diego County.

Travis started working at age 14 for his uncle at Sam Crum Well Drilling, learning the trade from the ground up. He's drilled and serviced wells across every type of terrain Southern California has to offer — from the granite of Julian to the clay of Ramona to the desert rock of Anza.
